The Game

SAYGO is an American-invented, fast, fun, family word-play game that only takes a few minutes to learn and can be adapted based on age, size of group and playing and spelling abilities. Best of all, it can easily be taken anywhere. The game includes a small travel bag, 120 letter tiles and an instruction book. SAYGO is very popular with families and teachers and has been a big hit at National Parks throughout the U.S.

History of the Game

It is believed that anagrams, a type of word play by rearranging letters to form a word or phrase, became popular in the Middle Ages and may have been invented by the Greek poet, Lycophron (285 B.C.). During that era, precise rules did not exist and the game did not become more standardized until modern times.

In the 1970s Marilyn Barth, a game lover from Missouri, found existing anagrams games too slow and decided to create her own. She came up with her own version of a boardless, fast, fun anagram game that became a hit with everyone who played, including eventual SAYGO founders, Chris and Lisa Enfantino.

The Enfantinos enjoyed the game so much that they began taking it everywhere they traveled. When they played with their family and friends, the feedback was always so positive that the couple decided to market the anagram game to game-lovers around the world.

In the fall of 2001, the Enfantinos began talking to Marilyn about
purchasing the rights to the game, which they completed in July 2003. Chris and Lisa began discussing how to market the word game and approached long-time friends, Jeff McKinley and Debby Daly, who were enthralled with the game after playing it on a cruise. Together, they formed the executive team and created the SAYGO brand.

The SAYGO team began selling the game through word of mouth and a partnership with the National Parks and is now distributing the game nationally through well renowned toy and game distributors, Toyology and Enchanted Moments.
